#1. A strawberry   isn’t actually a berry, but a BANANA is!

Not to get too technical, but technically berries are classified as an “aggregate fruit” which means they form from a flower with one ovary. A strawberry, however, comes from a flower with multiple ovaries. So based off of “science,” a strawberry is not a berry.

But… details, right?

We definitely do not recommend that you try this at home. Your microwave will probably never be the same.

#3. Apples, peaches, and raspberries are all members of the rose family.

Maybe in ten years, we’ll have college students coming home and saying that they’re majoring in Pomology.

#8. There is a tree called Fruit Salad Tree that sprouts 3 to 7 different fruits in the same tree.

So yes, the fresh fruit in your kitchen that you purchased at a local market can still be fresh and nutritious!

We knew there was a reason we liked bananas so much!

But this is definitely not a reason to not wash off your fruit and peel off the sticker. Because who doesn’t love a million Chiquita stuck on the side of their kitchen sink?!

#14. Back in the 1700s, Pineapples were extremely expensive. So much so, that American colonists could rent a pineapple to carry around at a party to show their wealth.

We know what we’ll be bringing as a hostess gift to our next party!

No wonder people from Iceland are so happy. It’s not the breathtaking scenery, it’s that they have endless bananas!

#16. Kiwis used to be called “melonettes.”

We don’t know about you, but this kind of sounds like an instrument.
